Elizabeth Chambers finally has directly addressed her estranged husband Armie Hammer’s “cannibal” scandal.
Posting a picture of a Cayman Islands beach, Chambers wrote she was “shocked” and “heartbroken” by the allegations against Hammer.
“For weeks, I’ve been trying to process everything that has transpired. I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening, and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters,” Chambers, 38, captioned the Instagram post.
“I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know.I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal.”
Chambers said that beyond her Instagram post, she wouldn’t comment any further on the 34-year-old “Call Me by Your Name” star’s alleged actions because she will focus on their children, Harper and Ford.
“Thank you for all of the love and support, and thank you in advance for your continued kindness, respect, and consideration for our children and me as we find ways to move forward,” she ended her statement.
Chambers only briefly acknowledged Hammer’s scandal last week when she heard that his former director and co-star, Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet, were reuniting to film a movie about actual cannibals.
“No. Words,” wrote Chambers, who filed for divorce from Hammer over the summer.
In January, multiple women came forward accusing Hammer of sexual and emotional abuse. His ex, Courtney Vucekovich, claimed he became “obsessive” and she started to fear for her safety, especially when he allegedly made comments about wanting to “barbecue and eat” her.
Another ex, Paige Lorenze, alleged Hammer used a knife to carve the letter “A” near her vagina and bruised her as a method of branding.
